summer of shows and weddings

this is a busy summer..and its technically not even summer for me since i get up and go to work for 8 hours every weekday - what kind of summer is that?? still..its the summer bc the traffic has minimized a bit and the temperatures are breaking triple digits. two things generally happen in the summer...people get married and people play music. at least thats what it seems like for me. i have one wedding down and four more in the coming months. and as far as music goes...i couldnt ask for a better lineup of shows to go to this summer. to start off i get to see ryan adams tonite debut his new album cold roses which is in one word, amazing. then a new favorite of mine, eliot morris, is playing next week with broussard. charlie mars a week after that and howie day and ray lamontagne in july! its a little overwhelming...and all these tickets start to add up, but its sooo worth it. if youre a music fan then you know its money well spent. oh, and then ACL in september and ive already talked about how fantastic thats going to be! needless to say, my music cravings will definitely be met this summer.

in other news..im back at work and what i feared is coming true...its getting slow again and thus, im getting bored...which is just no good at all. i guess i got a good two weeks or so of busyness...but thats all gone now and its back to days of clock watching and thumb twiddling. the worst thing, for me, about having nothing to do is that i default to browsing the internet and buying things. for instance..yesterday i bought an SLR camera off craigslist. it was a fantastic deal and i got a little bonus in my last paycheck from working overtime in D.C., but still...if i had been busy at work then i wouldn't have been able to browse craigslist and convince myself that i needed to buy it right then and there. so thats a slight problem. anyways..i guess im just going to have to get creative and think of ways to pass the time...all the while looking like im actually working...
