labor day happenins

lots of stuff to report. ill try to keep it organized.

friday i saw invincible - the movie based on the life story of vince papale playing for the philly eagles. it was pretty good - i love sports movies. however, this leads me to some discussion about my movie theater pet peeves. there are two things that drive me nuts. movie talkers/predictors and movie clappers. first, the former. please dont sit next to me in a movie and give me a running recap of what's going on, state obvious things that im obviously seeing for myself, or audibly predict what you think is going to happen next. i bet if we just watch the movie we will all eventually know what will happen unless perhaps the movie explodes in the middle and we are escorted out to get refunds. however i dont think that happens too often. second. movie clappers. we do not need to make the movie experience interactive. leave the clapping for award ceremonys. so yeah, case and i were so lucky to sit between two couples over the age of 50. we could have probably worn blindfolds bc them old folks definitely stated everything that was going on. and then not once, not twice, but at least 3 or 4 separate times during the movie the entire theater would clap when they felt it was necessary. ugghh..it killed me...really killed me. so there you have it...next time you watch a flick with me, keep those things in mind.

yesterday (sunday) i sporadically went to dallas. literally got home from working out, had a message from my friend jax, showered, packed, and got on the road and headed to dallas. my good friend patin is moving far away to D.C. so we had a little goodbye shindig/hangout for him. and well, i didnt want to miss out and didnt really have any labor day plans so i decided, why not? thus i went to dallas. and it was great. UNTIL i had to come home....prepare yourself for a story of utter frustration.

for your understanding i have come up with the following equation. im asian so mathematical type examples come naturally. kidding. ok anyways. I35 + rain + terrible drivers + LOTS of wrecks = SIX HOUR COMMUTE FROM DALLAS TO AUSTIN = angry asian. yes, thats right. i left dallas around 430. walked in my door at around 1015. there was a good 2 hrs spent traveling a 1/2 mile distance in good ole waxahachie. it was the situation where people are actually getting out of their cars b/c they have come to the realization that they arent going ANYWHERE anytime soon. so yeah, 2 hrs later we got moving again and i was able to drive faster than 2 mph. and as frustrating as that was, i can say that im actually lucky that that was the only wreck that backed up traffic going south b/c northbound traffic was even worse. about every 25 miles there was another wreck that had traffic backed up for about 5 miles per wreck. i predict that some of those people are still trying to get home as of now....

so theres not much else i can say about that. i dont really have a solution for the problem. i avoid I35 like the plague to start with but unfortunately it is the only dallas-austin route. so yeah, thats how my holiday came to a close. and now its time to get back to work tomorrow. i kinda lost my voice this weekend which im actually pretty dang excited about b/c you can't do outbound sales calls if you dont have a voice, right?! yeah, ill avoid that job responsibility any way i can. hope everyone elses labor day weekend was super fantastic!
