what do you get when you take a little girl from korea, adopt her at 5 months, and raise her in a white family?
me. here are my profound thoughts. enjoy them.

i am NOT used to being busy

yeah i said it...B-U-S-Y. and im at work and saying that. crazy huh? i guess my boss didnt want me to be an entire waste of space while she was gone for the week. so she had me learn some database stuff which resulted in a ever reproducing stack of papers that need to be cross checked in our database. and then she threw some projects on me before she left too. but im not complaining - its great to be busy - the day just flies by!

one thing with a busy work life...my desk shows it. but ill be honest, i kinda like having a messy desk bc i associate that with really important people that 'are too busy to clean their desk.' granted, i might let mine get a little crazy just so that i can lie to myself and allow myself to believe that i mean something to this company, but whatever.

so im sitting here and looking at my desk and realizing that maybe i should clean it bc i have acquired quite an assortment of crap on it. just some of the mess includes: a planner i have so that i can pretend im organized, popcorn, coupons, receipts, checks, menus, ketchup packets, cds, every office supply gadget you can imagine, probably every brochure that my company sells, and about a million little post-its with random stuff scribbled on them - some of which seem to be in languages i dont know anymore.

i think im going to clean my desk...if i dont post soon then that means i got lost in it...

weekly bachelor update

here it is...the bachelor update. this show is just getting more and more ridiculous - as expected when you have more than one girl (try 6) girls fighting over one hot bachelor doctor. heather and i were able to find an imperfection *gasp* with mr travis stork - his legs seemed a little storkish themselves. i know some of you girls, or guys, out there must have noticed the skinny bird legs too. granted, im sure theyre very strong since they kept showing him on a bike to promote his outdoorsy appeal, but they're still kinda skinny. however the rest of him is plenty nice to look at to make up for the bird legs.

so last nite the biggest drama was probably all of the girls hating moana and her hearing all of it. thats gotta be kinda rough when everyone hates you. and honestly i dont even think shes that bad. its definitely a game and the girls are seeing her as competition and thus hate her. jehan got sent home - maybe bc she was previously married and travis didnt seem to be thrilled with that secret. tara went home too and, although i still think shes a cute girl, she was getting a little annoying and she was like the college drunk so maybe she just needs to go back to college and get that outta her system before she goes after a 33 yr old.

im super annoyed that sarah the big bore is still there. why?? shes so boring and not fun. and whats with her hair...its always so big and i think she starts her part about an inch from her ear. the other girls still in it are canadian sarah, pretty susan, and 'everyone hates me' moana. to be quite honest im not sure if im a huge fan of any of them...maybe bc i secretly want travis to come find me and marry me. but ill stick to my original picks for now - canada and susan.

next week he goes to visit the possible future in-laws...it doesnt look pretty...

see ya family

its happening. my family is moving far, far away. and they say its not because 'they dont love me' although my dad would sometimes use that as the excuse when say, i didnt get a car at 16 or everything handed to me on a silver platter. it was all in joking though - my parents really do love me.

my sister and her husband met each other at virginia tech and thats where all his family is. he recently applied for a job out there and its looking quite promising. in fact my sister and him are going back out to VA this week to make a final decision and look at houses. the job in VA doesnt want him to give any more than a 3 week notice. this basically means that they could be moving in a month. and by they i mean my sister, her husband, and my niece and nephew. and if you know anything about me, you know how much i adore berkeley and ellie and the thought that they are going to be states away really, really sucks.

and here's the kicker. my parents are probably moving too. why you ask? well, my dad is retired and my mom doesnt work and so their life basically consists of spoiling the grandkids. and it doesnt look like either my brother or i will be producing any children anytime soon so theres no real reason to stay in texas for us. and with neither of us being tied down at the moment, we might not be in texas in a year either. so...yeah, there goes my parents too...oh and my doggies. theyll probably take a little longer to move since they arent in a huge hurry and well, are old. but it wouldnt surprise me if they were moved by summer.

nothing is a hundred percent though. however, id say its close to 90% and believe you me, im pulling for that 10% to prevail as winner. but with the odds highly against me i gotta start facing the realization that my entire family, minus my brother, will probably all be living in virginia by the end of the year.

so theres that....not the best news for me and i try not to think about it too much because it makes me sad.

so...sorry this post isnt of high spirits but its my life and you gotta take the good with the bad, right?

change is good...right?

well...unless you have the shortest term memory in history...or you're a first time visitor (in which case i welcome you) you will probably notice a new look to the blog.

not quite sure how i feel about it. i tried the white background and it seemed too...white. but this one might be too....black. or maybe im just not used to it and need to let it grow on me..

anyone have any thoughts...opinions...suggestions??

another happy hour success

last nite heather and i hit up lucy's boatyard for some happy hour fun although ill just go ahead and say that the service at lucy's is real poor. the bartenders were running around like chickens with their heads cut off and still no one felt like they were being served. i did manage to get my margarita poured on me by one bartender but lucky for them i accepted the sincere apologies and acted like it was no big deal. for one ive dealt with mean customers and know how it feels and really, a little margarita on the pants doesnt do any harm and you have some for later right? kidding...i didnt lick my pants when i got home. so anyways, the real reason for going to lucy's was bc on thursday nites they have 'fireside' concerts and last nite was ruthie foster whom i love. her show was great although we did have some trouble actually being let in to see it but you not so smart security guards didnt realize we could go up on the deck and come down the stairs to the room did ya? ha! so yeah..ruthie sang her heart out and jojo and i enjoyed such exclamations as, "you can just f***ing feel it!!!" by a guy sitting next to us. he evidently really enjoyed it.

so that was great. ill throw in a plug for my new camera. i dont know if you remember my story about tripping up the stairs at thanksgiving and breaking my digital camera. yeah...so anyways, i had to get a replacement and after hours of extensive cross-comparison research i settled on the Fuji FinePix F10. In the past, fuji hasnt been known to have a great camera but this one is making a breakthrough. i'm more than pleased with it. it starts up in about a second, has very short shutter lag, takes exceptional video, and has impressive low light capabilities. if youre in the market for a good digital camera i highly recommend it. ok thats my plug for the day...

permission to fire

i had my one year performance review with my boss two days ago. first off, can we believe that ive actually been here an entire year? i cant. ive probably considered quitting about 82 times and yet im still here. i think the stable income is the only thing thats kept me here honestly.

so the review. it didnt go so well. well, maybe i shouldnt say that...my boss thinks im doing great...gave me a nice, high "exceptional" score and everything. its when we started talking freely that it all went downhill and i might have given the company permission to fire me...

she first asked "so, do you like your job?"
my answer: *loooong pause* probably a little too long...followed by a feeble and very unconvincing "yeah..."
she asked me what i didnt like and i said "sales." yeah, sales is my job basically and i didnt really mean that i hated my job completely..just the answering the phone part and dealing with customers. ive been in the service industry for over 6 yrs and i have learned that i just hate it. but anyways...everything i said came out wrong and more harsh than i intended and for every sentence i said, i would spend about 5 minutes backtracking.

my boss talked about how the company wants to be more proactive in selling...hearing proactive and selling in one sentence basically makes me cringe all over. so she talked about that for a while and i told her that i totally understood the reasoning - that yeah, the company probably would benefit from some proactive selling etc. then i basically said that if it were to come to them asking me to do that then i wouldnt be able to stay and i would understand if they needed to let me go. WHO DOES THAT? who tells their boss - its ok if you wanna fire me...

so all to say...
my boss now knows that i dont have a lot to do and that i basically hate my job.
i might be fired any day now
if i find a job before that happens and decide to quit, at least it wont come as a shock to my boss

so my boss is going outta town all next week. my mission: find a new job.

your weekly bachelor update

last nite was bachelor. the stakes are getting higher, some of the girls are getting a little more crazy, and some of them are really playing the game.

some of travis' doctor friends came in and interviewed each of the girls to determine who would go on the single and group dates.

susan was picked to go on the single date. i guess they liked her the most which was ok with me bc shes one of my favorites too. she also got the first make out session with trav - way to go, susan. oh and of course she got the rose at the end of the date to secure her stay for another round.

then the group date got to go to the french riviera on a real pimped out yacht. boat...water...travis without a shirt - all good things. the girls on the group date were jehan, moana, shiloh, redhead, and crazy tn sarah. i like jehan. moana is kinda annoying and wont even admit to really liking the guy but still goes after him to get a lot of one on one time - that pissed a lot of the girls off. mainly, sarah - the teacher from tn whom ive never really liked bc she seems boring. this week she almost lost it and barely got a rose at the end. shiloh has also been boring and got the boot...it probably didnt help that on her one on one time with travis all she did was talk badly about the other girls. not attractive shiloh. the redhead has always been cute to me and shes still cute...however i dont like how she keeps barging in on other girls one on one time. its just kinda immature and disrespectful. i guess shes playing the game though.

then there was a two on one date with canadian and jennifer. jennifer tried to throw out a heartfelt 'opposites attract and complement each other' speech but i guess it wasnt enough. or maybe it was the fact that she didnt like bugs and outdoorsy trav decided that that was not going to work. yeah..that was probably it. so jenny got the boot and canadian girl got to stay and they had a little makeout session as well.

so...in summary...its down to jehan, redhead, teacher sarah, canadian sarah, moana, and susan. shiloh and jennifer went home.
and my vote still remains susan..then canada.

piracy, anyone?

i have a weakness when it comes to downloading...and not the legal kind. i can maybe blame some of that on some other people who introduced me to great sites and helped me get it all set up on my computer. however, i will go ahead and take responsibility for my actions. on this website you can put in how many movies, tv shows, music, and video games that you've downloaded and it will give you an estimate of how much money you should owe. i knew my number wouldn't be pretty...and it wasnt...i wont incriminate myself completely but lets just say it surpassed the $5,000 mark...

i hope 'they' don't come for me bc i don't have five grand....

the week and weekend

well...ive slacked a little on the blogging lately and i do apologize. and i cant say that not a lot has gone on because that would be a lie. in fact, quite a lot has happened. i just dont know how much of it i can share... ;)

tuesday nite heather and i hit up happy hour at baby a's. a couple hours later we met 4 nice boys who wanted to buy us some drinks and we kindly obliged. 8 hours later we were still hanging out with them...at one point we changed up locations and went to sherlock's. as to what happened at the end of the nite..i might have to plead the fifth....but i did drive myself home and i was alone thank you. however going to bed at 2am on a "school nite" was rough...

thursday nite i went to dinner with an old friend from high school. some would say it was a date...whatever...he did pay so maybe it was but date is a four letter word to me so lets not throw that around. it was fine...thats all i have to say about that.

im looking forward to the weekend. thats kinda a dumb sentence - who doesn't look forward to the weekend? but yeah...tomorrow im going to some queso tour kickoff at a mexican restaurant with some friends. i dont know what queso tour kickoff really even means but i figure it involves cheese and i like cheese so im excited. then we're going downtown to hear the matt white band. check em out if youre unfamiliar.

sunday is the beginning of a huge photography conference going on for 3 days called imaging usa or something. although i dont have a ticket to go to all of the seminars and classes that are being held bc that would have required me to shell out a few hundred bucks, i do have a ticket to check out all the exhibition stuff so hopefully i will be able to get some free stuff and talk to some pros about my new found interest of wedding photography. and on that note have i mentioned that i already have my first customer? my dear friend heather is going to have me do her wedding. luckily its not till november so i have time to get 'good'....heather i promise to not screw up....but anyways, pretty exciting.

so thats my life to some degree....have a good weekend everyone! dont do anything i wouldnt do...

a blessing and a curse

ive discussed before how slaving away at heb for 6 years really messed me up. as a result from checking out groceries for that long i have all these ridiculous produce codes embedded into my memory. roma tomatoes...4087, green pepper...4065, canteloupe...4050. yeah, you get the idea. luckily as i am now officially a whole year heb-free i am starting to lose my touch with the codes. i can do my produce shopping without automatically associating four digit numbers with each item i buy, and that is GREAT. i can still however credit heb with my ability to do my shopping quickly since i know where everything basically is...one day that will fade too...

as i am in a new job now i realize that i am slowly bringing another curse upon myself. every one of the items we sell has a dang four digit code and since i am basically the sales dept. it is helpful to myself that i know them. so now instead of associating numbers with food, i automatically think of STDs. awesome. 1074? teen chlamydia 1061? gonorrhea. well thats just great. suddenly fruit doesnt seem so bad.

i need a job without numbers...

bachelor update

alright well im updating this as im watching bc its just easier that way. this will hopefully help me to be better with names. just now kristen, i think, was on the single date with hot doctor travis. and he just rejected her! yikes. last week i thought she was pretty cute but then she was a little weird this week so im ok with her leaving.

he went on a group date with half of them and gave a rose to jehan.. shes alright..i guess she can stay for now. the teacher from nashville kinda annoys me...she seems old but shes only 26. meanwhile the girls back at the house were talking about turn ons. i wont go into those though ;)

now travis is on group date number two. moana just said that shes not into guys dating other girls while hes dating her. ok normally this would be a valid statement but do you know what the bachelor is!? sarah, the canadian, still cracks me up...i want her to say 'wicked' again....right now shes babbling incoherently and saying 'wow' a lot...she seems kinda high most of the time. tara the redhead is still pretty cute. so is susan. shiloh is boring. he just gave a rose to tara. i support that.

ok rose ceremony time. the roses go to....moana :( sarah from tn :( jennifer..i dont even know who she is.. canadian sarah - saw that coming a mile away.. shiloh...still boring... susan :)

im sad cole didnt make it although she kinda just lost it so hmm. yvonne was super annoying so im glad shes done. and i dont even know that other girl was so i guess she wasnt too important...

there ya have it. not quite as dramatic as last week...no one wanting babies but i guess thats probably a good thing.

a new kind of christian

first off, 24 started last nite and it was FREAKING AMAZING. 2 whole hours of nonstop intensity and there's 2 more hours tonite!! i can't take it.

now that we got that outta the way... i recently started and finished a book by brian mclaren - a new kind of christian - and liked it a whole lot. it makes you think about things differently and i like that. here are some quotes from it:

about reading the bible:
"what would happen if we approached the text less aggressively but even more energetically and passionately...honestly listened to the story and put ourselves under its spell, so to speak, not using it to get all of our questions about God answered but instead trusting God to use it to pose questions to us about us." [57]

about our witness to others:
"if we Christians would take all the energy we put into proving we're right and others are wrong and invested that energy in pursuing and doing good, somehow I think that more people would believe we are right" [61]

"instead of conquest...where we hope to 'win' them to Christ...i think of it like a dance. nobody wins and nobody loses...i hear the music of the gospel, my friend doesnt so i try to help him hear it and move with it. and like a dance i have to ask if the other person wants to participate. there's a term for pulling someone who doesnt want to dance into a dance: assault" [61]

about being 'saved' and 'saving others:'
"our escape from the narrowing of the gospel to an individualistic story only about saving souls to a missional, communal, and global story about saving the world" [116]

"it's like a line in the sand...its as if we have taken what is for Jesus a starting line and turned it into a finish line" [130]

"the essence of our identity as people of God isnt that we're an elite, saved for privilege, but ordinary people saved for service, for responsibility" [131]

"salvation is what we experience and spread in the process of joining God in his grand mission"

"stop counting conversions and start counting conversations" [109]

about the church:
"church doesn't exist for the benefit of the members. it exists to equip its members for the benefit of the world" [155]

superstitious?

well, in case you weren't already aware of it, today is friday...the 13th!! so you know what that means....yeah i dunno. im not superstitious so it really means nothing to me. i dont fear that im going to die or bad things are going to happen to me today or anything like that. for those of yall that are superstitious...good luck....

you dont have to file your taxes till april 17th or or something like that, but the faster you file that sucker, the faster you get your return. so...if youre like me and always welcome unexpected money in your life, then you might want to get that done. once you get your W2 mailed to ya then all you have to do is fill out your 1040 or whatever form and send it in. you can go to irs.gov and download any and all forms that you need to from there. they also have all the handy instructions and tax tables for you as well. me, being single, not having any dependents, not owning or buying anything of a lot of value etc., am able to fill out the 1040EZ form which really is quite 'EZ.' i actually did it yesterday at work in about 10 minutes. so dont be afraid of your taxes, guys...its not hard!

check out these stats

this came from an 'ask yahoo' question of "how many people in the world live in extreme poverty?"

according to netaid, over a billion people, or roughly 1 in 6, live in extreme poverty. extreme poverty is defined as living on less than US $1 a day. the world bank goes on to define moderate poverty as basic subsistence living, on $1 to $2 a day. nearly, half the world's pop lives in poverty - thats 2.8 billion people living on less than two dollars a day.

*each year over 8 million people die because they are simply too poor to stay alive
*more than 800 million people go hungry every day
*the gross domestic product of the poorest FORTY EIGHT NATIONS is less than the wealth of the world's THREE richest PEOPLE
*33,000 children die every day due to hunger and treatable illnesses
*6 million children die every year before their fifth birthday, as a result of malnutrition.

just process those for a minute or two...

very 'punny'

with the win of the horns and the loss of the trojans there were bound to be many dirty jokes, puns etc. some that i heard arent quite appropriate to share so ill leave that up to your imagination. i mean, what do you expect when your mascot is also a nationally famous condom brand? well, this pic is from austinist.com, taken at the el arroyo on fifth. hehehe....

let the countdown begin...

44 days till i go to vail!!!! WAHOOOO!!!!!

a quote and a critique

here's a quote i just read off of slate.com..i liked it.
"a photograph is not created by a photographer. what he does is just to open a little window and capture it. the world writes itself on the film. and the act of the photographer is closer to reading than it is to writing. he is the reader of the world." ferdinando scianna

in other news, last nite i watched the premiere of
the bachelor in paris.
here is the bachelor, travis stork. not the best last name but he's a doctor...oh and he's hot so that will make up for the fact that his name sucks. i havent always been a huge bachelor fanatic. the last real season i watched was with trista and ryan bc i thought she was real cute and well, he was a hot fireman from vail - who wouldn't love that? and their relationship actually seemed to work which was a relief after all the other ones failing. the following seasons turned out to be failures as well i think all though i wasn't really watching them. i did catch the finale of the last bachelorette with jen however. yeah, it was like a bazillion hours long and then she didnt even pick either guy - that was 3 hours of my life i really really wanted back. i hadnt watched any other episode before that though so i couldnt really make a judgement as to whether or not she should have really picked one but i guess its better to not, than to and be unhappy right? but anyways, i think the whole idea of the show is kinda ridiculous, especially this one. you go to the most romantic city in the world, paris france and take these girls on extravagant dates that you obviously couldnt do in good ole nashville, TN (where he is from). obviously, a girl is going to fall in love with you...but what do you do when you dont have the eiffel tower in your midst? its just impractictal - yet still entertaining to watch so ill probably keep up with this season.

the show made me laugh and cringe a lot. girls are sooo catty and just terrible. the second that rose ceremony started and the roses started dwindling down, girls were already pouting and scowling. cmon!! youve talked to the guy for like 15 minutes - so he doesnt pick you...can you really take it THAT personally?? i had to get a pic of this girl here to the left. i think her name is allie, but ill call her 'CRAZY BABY WOMAN.' crazy baby woman sits down with travis for her 15 minutes or so to shine and says something along the lines of wanting to get the "REPRODUCTIVE" stage of her life going. no lie...she did use the word reproductive. i about died for her and all the other women in the world watching. evidently she had shared with some of the other girl contestants that her "eggs were old" and her clock was ticking. i give props to travis who held his composure very well despite just hearing that a woman wanted to immediately reproduce with him. she even confronted him later after he didnt pick her(SURPRISE, SURPRISE) and told him he was playing games and a bunch of other crap. crazy baby woman. i hope she was watching the show and was mortified by her statements. i was.

so that was definitely the "high" point of the show. my favorites thus far are: the canadian girl that he gave the first rose to despite her saying things like "wicked," the red headed girl..dont know her name but she seemed cute, the bubbly girl he picked last with real curly blonde hair - she just seems real nice and was still smiling when the last rose was being handed out while most of the other girls were already hopeless and pissed, and susan - the real cute brunette.

so there you have it. ill give you my updates from the show each week. i imagine it will get pretty intense and ridiculous and ill probably want to disconnect myself from the female gender after some of the shows....nevertheless, i will watch it every week.

what on earth...

getting older and stupider....

yes i know that 'stupider' is not a word - that was meant as a joke and hopefully you, my intelligent reader caught on to that.

if you notice in my side margins i have a list of books im currently reading. for one, you might realize that there are multiple books in the list. this due in part to what i would diagnose as a slowly increasing case of attention deficit disorder. as i age, im realizing that i cant for the life of me keep my focus on anything for too long and im not sure why. maybe its because im not having to endure hour long classes where my attention is trained to fixate on one point...although i was notorious for sleeping in about 70% of my classes, 50% of which i went to. but my academic motivation is a completely different topic.

so anyways...back to the books...those books have been on that list for a real...long...time. at least half a year...probably longer. and have i finished any of them? um no....and its been so long since ive opened them that i will inevitably have to start over on page one to remember what the heck its about. and for that dang harry potter book that is like 700 pages long...i will never finish it...and to think that book six which is like 900 pages...is waiting to be read after i finish five...dios mio. but yeah, i have this great knack at starting books and not finishing them...and starting new books when im in the middle of others. all it takes is for me to see an interesting book and want to read it and suddenly ive forgotten that im already reading two others and at one time they seemed interesting enough to start as well.

all to say, ive started another book. *cringe* yeah, that makes 4 although im only actively reading the new one - a new kind of christian. id heard some good things about it, read the 5 pg online preview on amazon, found out my roomie owned it, and started reading it last week. its not an easy read so im suprised that im still giving it a chance. its filled with big words and theories i dont know but maybe thats whats keeping me in - the challenge of learning the stuff. so yeah, theres some good stuff in it and i was going to add some excerpts i liked from it but this entry is becoming too long as it is so ill save it for another time.

so...hopefully ill finish this book but i cant guarantee that. i do want to get back into the habit of reading more though bc i do believe that it provides some sort of positive mental stimulation that i could probably use since i dont get a whole lot of that at work. my goal is to read at least 20 books this year...which on one hand sounds like a whole lot...and on another hand it doesnt seem like many at all...so we'll see. regardless, ill probably still be reading harry potter 5 in 2007.

career path epiphany

i think i want to be a wedding photographer...

anyone know anything about that??

work productivity

"well i generally come in at least fifteen minutes late..i use the side door - that way lumbergh can't see me...after that i sorta space out for an hour..."
"space out?"
"yeah, i just stare at my desk, but it looks like i'm working. i do that for probably another hour after lunch too...id say in a given week i probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work."

if you arent familiar with the movie office space then that quote wont mean as much to you. its pretty much the story of my life. i ran across an article today, "are you a slacker?" you should check it out and see how your level of productivity measures up. im pretty sure i qualified as a slacker in all 5 of the examples given. come to find out, i left a candle burning all nite long in my office last nite. luckily it was one of those big yankee candles with the big glass jar so theres a really low chance that the flame can get outta control. nevertheless it made me feel kinda guilty that i dont do a whole lot when im actually here and then when im not here im unintentionally trying to burn the whole place down...

on a side but kinda related note...one of the only things that keeps me going thru the day (besides taking extremely long lunches, random breaks, and surfing the internet for hours at a time) is that i can at least listen to music in my office. i just hook up my trusty ipod and shuffle thru my songs all day. ive been listening to some new stuff lately that i recommend if youre open to a non mainstream sound. im not trying to be a music snob either - i listen to my fair share of top 40 junk too - i love it all but sometimes the cheesy lyrics and 15 year old singers whos gender you cant clearly distinguish gets old. so anyways, check out clap your hands say yeah, the fiery furnaces, fiona apple, and kings of convenience.

it's a national holiday in austin, tx today

i wont put up pics of vince young and or other ut players and pretend like im a longhorns fan, bc im not. i am after all, an ag. but i am a fan of matthew mcconaughey so thatll work.

honestly, i didnt really care who won the game...i was a little partial to texas just bc you go for the texas team and being in austin..if i were to say i were going for usc i would probably be beaten or given lots of dirty stares. so i am glad that texas won..if anything for the sake of this town bc if they hadnt it sure would be a somber place. however, im proud to say its quite the opposite. in fact, its kinda chaotic and ridiculous. just in my office alone which i would normally not really associate with sports however its the only thing people can talk about today and are still talking about. stories were shared about people going out to academy and other places last nite and this morning and waiting in lines of 500-1000 people just for a nat champs tshirt. just crazy. i guess if a&m had just won then i would totally understand and would be one of those people in those lines however bc a&m isnt quite nat champ status yet, i dont have to worry about that.

so for now ill enjoy the festivities...ill go snack on all the orange food people have brought in for celebration and pretend like im just as excited as they are...

smell the roses

tomorrow my office is closing two hours early in observance of....

the rose bowl. and for that, and that ONLY, i will say

HOOK 'EM HORNS.

goodbye '05...helloooo '06!

well i would tell you my new years resolutions but i dont make those. i think they're dumb. so theres that...glad we got that outta the way. i do however want to read more and eat less. those arent so much resolutions though...more like life long struggles i have yet to conquer.

last nite i couldnt sleep at all and when i cant sleep i do a lot of thinking. i guess i hope that if i think hard enough it will make me tired and then ill be able to sleep. and at nite all my thoughts seem so much more deep and profound. today i cant remember any of them so evidently they werent that great after all.

some recent events...
my good friend petie who currently resides in nyc came back to texas for a little visit and made a stop in austin. it was great - i miss her and her stay was definitely not long enough. we talked about how i think i have social anxiety disorder or rather she tried to convince me that i dont. but we'll touch on that some other time

new years came and went with an anticlimactic feeling as always. i mean, dont you wish you would feel different or something magical would happen when the clock strikes 12? like your hair would turn a different color or a finger would fall off...obviously id opt for the former. but no, you all count down..3...2..1..haaaapppy new year! you toast some champagne, make out if youre lucky, and then its like ok...what now? but anyways...welcome 2006. youre going to be a good one, i can feel it.

one funny thing on new years eve though...i was playing catch phrase with a group of people. unfortunately it was mostly people i didnt really know so i couldnt make fun of them when their guesses were stupid or when they did terrible jobs of describing words. cmon..you know thats half the fun when youre with your friends. but anyways...ive talked about this before, but any game that requires shouting out of words with little thinking and preparation are really the best. for instance, the word was cheesecloth. the describee broke it down into two parts - cloth and cheese and had people guess both of those and then put them together. well all i know is that at some point in the round i heard "DENIM CHEESE" and "CHEESE PANTS" yelled out as guesses. ok...there is no such thing as denim cheese or cheese pants folks. im not saying i dont yell out stupid stuff...i dont doubt i did. but those were definitely the highlights of that round. one time i got the word 'seven.' so i said, "after six.." except half the group thought i said "after sex." needless to say i got blank stares..meanwhile i was thinking, do these morons not know what comes after six?? good times.

well, thats enough for now...

if i remember my deep thoughts from last nite ill make sure and share them with you...
